19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is his first championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since spring of that year.

The win also means he has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

His counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his first professional title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he clinched the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
